My work comp insurer did its annual audit, added a bunch of charges I don’t understand to my premium, and has now sent a cancellation notice. What do I do?

Act fast. If you don’t understand or disagree with the new premium, you need to dispute the cancellation in writing within 30 days to keep uninterrupted coverage. If 30 days has gone by, you should still dispute the cancellation, but also apply for a new policy. Work comp insurers sometimes apply incorrect codes to employees, resulting in high premiums. Other times, a work comp insurer may incorrectly code a subcontractor as an employee. You should talk to an attorney experienced in work comp audits, employee codes, and premium calculations.
